Canberra Data Centres (CDC) and the Australian Privacy Act.
The Commonwealth Government has passed the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 (Cth) which amends the Privacy Act 1988(Cth). As an Australian owned company, our policy for your privacy is based upon the Australian - 10 National Privacy Principles. When you purchase from CDC , contact CDC , provide information to CDC or view the CDC website canberradc.com.au, we will protect your privacy and help you maintain control over your company and any personal data that you have provided to CDC .
Information collected will only be used for the conduct of business with CDC and you, the client. It will be fair, lawful and non - obtrusive. CDC will use the Collection Statement. Where reasonable and practical, CDC will endeavour to collect information directly from the individual within the company.
Use and disclosure:
CDC will endeavour to collect information for primary purposes only - i.e. A CDC marketing campaign for a specific purpose.
CDC will endeavour to collect and use information that is accurate, complete and up to date. The Quality of data will be continually confirmed.
CDC will take all reasonable steps to protect your information from mis-use, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
CDC has a privacy document that details our information handling processes. This is available under standard industry QA and Intranet processes.
Access and Correction:
As a client you have the right to seek access to your information held by CDC . These will be provided in a reasonable time frame. Note: There are limited circumstances / exceptions where this may be refused.
CDC will not use any government identifier such as Tax file number, Medicare etc to identify a client. ABN and ACNs may be used.
Where it is lawful and practical CDC will allow customers to interact anonymously.
As a totally Australian owned company, there are no other CDC entities that have access to the database that CDC operates upon. Thus the information will not be shared beyond the parent entity.
CDC will not collect sensitive information unless the individual consents.
If CDC uses any service provider as a third party i.e. mail house, PR firm or recruitment company etc we insist that they abide by these privacy laws.
CDC will only ask for RELEVANT information that relates to your account
The types of information that CDC may request may include the following;
- Your details on a customer purchase order
- E-mail notification for example: your order status, your web account number, our technical response to your problem
- Your contact for a mailing list
- Our response to your request for a quotation
- Your customer satisfaction level
- Your acceptance to receive information from a telesales person
- Confirmation that you will attend a CDC business related conference or seminar
In the case of newsletters or mailing lists, you can “unsubscribe” to these mailings at any time:
- By emailing simply the words REMOVE on the subject field, your company name and contact details and we will remove your details from our database – Email email@example.com
- By faxing Marketing on 02 6260 2278 and requesting no information by whatever method.
- By calling Marketing on 02 6260 2277
CDC will use your personal information for specific purposes
CDC will ONLY use your information to support your interaction with CDC. CDC staff who access your information under normal business procedures have been advised that they must protect your data and privacy both during employment and post employment with CDC . All your information is collected under Commercially in Confidence guidelines.
