Senior Systems Engineer

About the Role:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the operation of CDC’s ICT infrastructure, both on-premises and cloud. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be also responsible for the delivery of ICT projects and providing support to junior colleagues.

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Build, configure and maintain large server clusters over several geographies.
  • Troubleshoot complex systems and environments based on VMware, Windows, and Dell architectures.
  • Manage and Maintain CDC’s extensive Active Directory environment.
  • As a subject matter expert, provide advice and reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Act as a mentor and provide training to junior team members.
  • Manage a range of internal ICT projects.
  • Provide detailed reports and data to the CDC senior executive team.
  • Manage and maintain As-Built documentation relating to CDC’s core ICT Infrastructure.
  • Liaise with 3rd Party vendors and assist with design and procurement activities.
  • Responsible for managing and maintain CDC’s monitoring and backup platforms. 

About You:

  • Mid-senior level experience in a Systems Engineering role
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in VMware and Windows systems as well as Office 365 and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise 3rd party tools including backup and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience running various ICT related projects and associated resources and schedules.
  • Demonstrated experience building, configuring, and maintaining large virtualized and cloud workloads.
  • Experience with enterprise storage systems
  • Industry-related certifications (VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSE etc)

Desirable: 

  • VMware Product Suites (vSphere, vSAN, vRealize etc)
  • Windows Server Architectures (Active Directory, Distributed File Systems, Group Policy etc)
  • PowerShell/PowerCLI
  • Automation
  • Veeam Backup & Replication

Essential:

Australian citizenship and ability to obtain an NV1 Security Clearance
